Lyman pond sits next to Smith College’s botanical gardens and is a commonly visited spot by the students and local residents. The project entailed draining the pond and dredging the sediment in order to restore the pond to its original size. Additionally, numerous storm drains and footing drains (clean natural water) were diverted from various locations to help increase the flow of water to the pond which helps to minimize algae and improve the aquatic environment for the native pond species. Lastly, a pathway and viewing platform were constructed to create an area close to the water for viewing pleasure.
